ROAD IMPROVEMENTS IN BURTON AGNES DUE TO START TOMORROW – 16/10/23

A road improvement scheme is due to start tomorrow in Burton Agnes.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £287,000 to repair Main Street in the village starting on Monday 16th October.

The work, taking around three weeks, will be split into two phases.

Phase one

The first phase involves patching damaged parts of the road, starting on Monday 16th October.

This is due to take 12 days, with work being carried out between 9.15am and 4.30pm on weekdays.

The work will be carried out under temporary traffic lights.

Phase two

The second phase involves resurfacing Main Street, between Station Road and the Old Police House.

The work is expected to last seven days and will be carried out on weekday evenings between 6pm and 11pm.

Due to the narrow width of Main Street and for the safety of the workforce, it will be necessary to close the road to HGV traffic during the evening working hour.

HGVs and larger traffic will be diverted via the A614 road to Carnaby, A165 to Whitecross roundabout near Leven, A1035 to Beverley, A164 to Molescroft, ans the A614 via Driffield to Burton Agnes.

For light vehicles, temporary traffic lights will be in place during the evening hours and a convoy vehicle will be used.

The junctions of Rudston Road and Station Road will be closed for the duration of the resurfacing works.

The work will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team as part of the programme of planned road improvement works.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “These works have been planned to cause the least disruption through Burton Agnes, with the resurfacing taking place during the evening when the road is quieter.

“We want to thank residents and motorists for their patience while we carry out these necessary improvements.”
