POLICE CORDON IN PLACE IN BRIDLINGTON

Humberside Police have executed a warrant this morning (Tuesday 11 April) as part of a pre-planned operation on Oxford Street, Bridlington following reports that controlled chemicals were potentially present at the address.

As a result of this, specialist officers are currently in attendance at the address along with partners such as the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

As a precautionary measure, houses in the immediate area are being evacuated and EOD (Explosives Ordinance Disposal) are attending to make an assessment of the situation.

Residents are advised to leave their homes temporarily while they ensure the property, and its contents, are safe.

A temporary shelter based at Bridlington Spa has been set up to provide basic accommodation for those affected.

Residents are reminded to take essential medication with them in case the cordon has to be in place for a number of hours.

A 61-year-old man has been arrested as part of the operation and is assisting police with enquiries.

We will continue to keep you updated with how this will impact both the community and also the road network as soon as we have more information.
