On Saturday the 25th of September, a new event will be coming to Bridlingtons South Beach in the form of a five-a-side beach touch rugby league tournament.
The event is to be held on the South Beach between the Bridlington Lifeboat Station and Richie’s Cafe-bar.
Speaking on Bridlington Gold, Stuart Morris, one of the organisers, said “We have been running similar tournaments for quite some time, but this will be the first time it will be taking place on sand. This is a first for Bridlington, but we are hoping that it will become an annual event. We have teams taking part from all over the country, bringing with them new visitors to the town and hopefully boosting trade for guesthouses and other local businesses. There will be a number of ex professional rugby league players taking part and special appearances from a host of team mascots. The event is free to watch, but we are hoping people will donate towards the Bridlington Lifeboat. Stuart went on to say “We hope as many people as possible from the town will come along and support the event, which will culminate in a trophy presentation by the Mayor of Bridlington at around 5pm.”
