MURDER AT THE HALL COMES TO SEWERBY HALL & GARDENS

This June, Sewerby Hall and Gardens will bring a brand new murder mystery event to the Grade I listed Georgian country house.

‘Murder at the Hall’ will take place in partnership with Bridlington’s talented amateur theatre group, Spotlight Theatre.

Stepping back to April 1912, the Fairfax family are hosting a party which is invitation only …that is, until a deathly scream fills the rooms, and then everyone’s help is required to investigate. Was it in the billiard room, the bedroom or even the bathroom? And who was the murderer?

This event promises to be a murder mystery evening with a difference, where budding sleuths will have the chance to search the house and its fine rooms on the lookout for clues.

Starting in the impressive orangery, all guests will receive a warm welcome and interesting snippets about the Fairfax family and their staff. There will also be a bar from which drinks can be purchased.

Split into 4 groups led by a host, the search will begin by looking out for clues, observing performances, listening in on conversations, and asking questions, whilst moving around the rooms taking notes.

After collecting all the clues and looking at the evidence, all will be revealed. Those who solved the murder will receive a certificate and one lucky detective will also receive tickets to Spotlight Theatre’s Summer Show.

Sharron Wilson, Events and Activities Officer, said: “We are very excited to bring ‘Murder at the Hall’ to Sewerby Hall and can’t wait to see these amazing nights in action.

“The hall has the ideal ambience and setting for a murder mystery evening and Spotlight Theatre were the perfect choice to bring these evenings to life.”

Mike Sheldon, chairman of Bridlington Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society said: “We are so pleased to have been offered the opportunity to be involved in these historical murder mystery evenings, which will give our members the opportunity to perform something exciting and different in such a delightful local setting. We are looking forward to welcoming the guests to “Murder at the Hall!”

Murder at the Hall will take place on Friday, 2nd and Friday, 9th June 2023. Doors open at 7pm and the event will run 7.15pm – 10.00pm.

This event is strictly 18+ and not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Tickets are £24.99 with limited numbers per event, so book early and don’t miss out on this night of mystery, fun and entertainment.
