HUMBERSIDE POLICE ADVICE AHEAD OF THE WEEKEND

On Monday 19 July the government proceeded with the final phase of the covid roadmap out of lockdown as we continue to adjust to living with the virus.

Restrictions have now been lifted with no limits on groups of people socialising indoors and outdoors at any venue. Capacity limits have been lifted at businesses such as pubs, restaurants, theatres and sporting venues. As a part of this final phase, nightclubs are now allowed to re-open and masks are no longer mandatory in communal/public spaces.

Ahead of the weekend Deputy Chief Constable Paul Anderson said: “As we anticipated, our towns and city centres have become busier over recent weeks. Heading into the weekend, we will see the return of night time economy across our Force area as people head to bars, clubs and other social spaces to enjoy themselves.

“I’d like to reassure the residents of Humberside, throughout this transitional period additional staff and officers will be on hand to accommodate the likely increase in demand for service.

“It may be the first weekend since restrictions have eased but we continue to urge people to remain vigilant to ensure personal safety and that of others. Guidance remains in place and masks in public places are advised.

“It’s always been part of our role to ensure we keep you safe but I’d particularly like to remind people to drink responsibly and remain vigilant if you are intending to head to the pubs and clubs with friends over the course of the weekend.

“This past week we have seen the return of some sunnier weather. Within our force area we have some fantastic rivers, lakes and beaches which many families with children and young people will be visiting over the weekend and throughout the summer, however we are urging them to be aware of the dangers open waters can pose.
