FORMER BRIDLINGTON RNLI CREW MEMBER STEPS OUT FOR THE MAY DAY MILE

Former Volunteer at Bridlington RNLI, Glenn Walker is set to raise funds for the May Day Mile campaign. RNLI/MIKE MILNER

This summer, thousands of people will get into danger by the water, ordinary people enjoying days out with family or friends. It’s so easy to get into danger. It could happen to you, or to someone you love.

The RNLI are determined to be there when they are needed most, but they need to be ready.

Training, kit, stations and fuel are just some of the things the volunteers need to help save lives at sea.

Usually, RNLI volunteer lifesavers answer mayday calls and go to rescue others but, this May, it’s the RNLI who are asking for your help.

You can answer the call for help by donating to support Glenn who is taking part in the Mayday Mile, or by registering your own Mayday Mile event!

Glenn said ‘As the weather warms up more people will be drawn to the water. But as temperatures rise, so do the calls for help. Getting into trouble can happen to anyone and it happens so easily. It could happen to you, me, or someone we love.

I’ll be completing one mile every day this May to raise money for the brave volunteer crews. Please donate to support me and consider joining me in completing a mile each day this month by walking, jogging or in any way you like.’
