ADVICE IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF THE EMERGENCY SERVICES

Terry Luty, from the Bridlington Crime Prevention Facebook Group posted the following:

“Is your house number visible? In an emergency, it could make all the difference.

Today is the shortest day (and longest night!) of the year, so we thought we’d remind you about the importance of making your house name or number easy to see.

If you need the emergency services urgently, it’s vital that they can get to you without delay.

So this evening, please check if your house number is visible from the road in the dark. Make sure there are no fences, bushes or parked vehicles blocking the view. And if your house has a name, consider displaying the number as well. Although the emergency services use sat-navs and local knowledge to help them get to incidents as quickly as possible, seeing a clear house number can gain valuable seconds – which could help them catch criminals or even save lives.”
